The Darnell Collection helps celebrates the Harbour Bridge 80th Birthday !

Back on 19th March this year... (Charlotte Smith, curator of) The Darnell Collection helps celebrate the Harbour Bridge 80th birthday at Bradfield park, Milsons point NSW  with style and elegance of the 1930's era.

The day started very slow with a bit of drizzle rain but turned into a beautiful and glorious day!

Earlier this month, had the opportunity to shoot Mel's family.

It was lots of fun ! 

(That location with old bricks building is one of my fav! It's great for interesting textures ect...)  I love bright colours but knowing Mel's taste :)... I gave a treatment to those pics to have that 'vintage' washed-out look.

I love portrait photography.   To be able to capture a mood or a personality from a subject/model through my lens...  I think that is so rewarding!  HOWEVER... it is not to say that I can't do anything else ! in fact... I also love my close-up/Macro shots (specially with drops of water!)   Here are couple of shots of one morning after some never ending rain !!  

But... just wanted to add my dark touch to it... What do you think ??

No portraits today but....

Oh my gosh ! I have been naughty... Look what I had today with my coffee !!

Some Timtam (not to mention... the packet !) well you know... the packet sounds aweful and naughty but...there's only... tiny 11 biscuits in it !!

oops !! I wonder how many calories or how many points in the WW program have I swallowed :(

but ...it's was sooo nice though ...

Another serie of dance photos that I shot last year at a Concert rehearsal.
Would have loved to do this on a normal performance night because all would be perfect, make-up, props ect...  but on a creative level, I was still quite happy with these ...

... I love how photography allows me to express myself on a creative level... the fashion, vintage things,  the Victorian/Edwardian era oh so beautiful and elegant !!
but also ... shoes  .... burlesque and of course...  feathers !!
So for my photo-session below, I really wanted to make a bold statement with bright colours, bright make-up and ... lots and lots of feathers !
Was thrilled with the result ! what do you think ?

Blue Mountains Fashion Photographer: 'Hat & pointe'

My friend came for a visit last month and as for each rare visit she does,

we always try to fit in a photo session. 

For each person, I always aim to bring out their personality, a style that would suit and of course... a little bit of my ideas and inspiration, so this is my  vision of it:  Simple with basic colours, elegance ... and I threw a hat and some pointes (she is a dancer ... and why not a cigarette (since she smokes :)

We had so much fun doing this !

Cocktail Couture at Blackheath with the Darnell Collection:

Our friend Charlotte Smith, curator of the Darnell Collection, (click HERE for full details and Charlotte's story) has organised a fashion parade as a fundraiser for Blackheath Public school late last year.  Never have we seen in Blackheath, so  many beautiful models parading with her unique collection of vintage clothing and accessories for the occasion.   The event was very successful in raising some much needed money for the school.

The community hall  got literally transformed into a very nice arena for this exciting event ...

A very successful event with fashion in mind, some wine on arrival,  cakes and nibbles, local businesses donated items for the raffles  to help make this fundraiser a success: 'Dreaming of Dior', 'Dreaming of Chanel' books from Charlotte's Darnell collection,   'Minxy vintage' books  from best-selling author and vintage lover: Kelly Doust, CDs from local jazz singer Penelope Sai,  all made a very pleasant evening had by all !

Looking forward to more of those  events in the Blue mountains !
